Looking Ahead to My Westfield Memorial Library Residency

I'm excited to share that I'll be serving as Artist-in-Residence at Westfield Memorial Library from April 1 – May 31, 2026.

For two months, the library will become my studio as I work in watercolor and ink on quiet coastal scenes, landscapes, and process sketches. I'll be painting on-site each week, so visitors can stop by, watch a piece develop from first sketch to final details, and ask questions about materials, technique, or inspiration.

Workshops

I'm especially looking forward to two workshops I'll be leading during the residency:

• "Calm Waters" — A coastal painting workshop for adults and seniors using watercolor and ink to build a simple, peaceful shoreline scene. (Monday, April 20th, 11:00 AM)
• "Spring Blossoms" — A watercolor workshop for kids ages 7–11, where young artists will paint their own flowering trees and add their own stories underneath the branches. (Saturday, May 9th, 10:00 AM)

What I'll Be Working On

During the residency, I'll be focusing on the themes that run through much of my work: coastal horizons, quiet paths, and small moments of light that feel like they could be your own memories.

You can expect to see:

• Watercolor and ink coastal scenes — dunes, shorelines, lighthouses, and calm water, painted in simple layers of color and line.
• Quiet landscape studies — places that feel familiar even if you haven't been there: a stand of trees, a road at dusk, a glimpse of water through branches.
• Sketches and process pieces — not just finished work, but the underdrawings, color tests, and experiments that lead to finished paintings.

I'll be at the library on Mondays from 2:30–4:30 PM and Thursdays from 1:00–3:00 PM. If you visit during those windows, you'll be able to see whatever is currently on the easel — whether that's the first pale wash of sky or the final ink lines that bring a scene into focus.
