Between the Blossoms and the Bell Tower is a one-of-a-kind original watercolor by William Palm, capturing cherry blossoms against the steady white form of a bell tower at the Westfield Memorial Library.

Painted in transparent watercolor washes, the piece holds a fleeting overlap of seasons: the softness of bloom against the permanence of stone, with light filtering through new leaves onto the winding path below.

This was the first completed painting of William’s Artist Residency at the Westfield Memorial Library, created entirely on-site during the spring of 2025. The blossoms and bell tower seemed to exist in two different times at once, and this painting preserves that quiet moment before it passed.
