In Pirate Moon, I was drawn to the dramatic contrast of a silhouetted ship set against the glow of a full moon. I kept the palette intentionally limited, allowing the tonal range of the watercolor to create atmosphere and mood.

As I worked, I focused on simplifying the forms and letting the shapes and values carry the composition. The reflection of light across the water and the quiet presence of the ship create a sense of stillness, while also suggesting a larger story just beyond the frame.
